President of EST has been appointed the Mwalimu Nyerere Professor in Development

Mwalimu Nyerere Professor in Development
Prof. Ndulu served at the University of Dar es Salaam as a Professor of Economics before taking up other national and international responsibilities. He is an immediate past Governor of the Bank of Tanzania. He has also served as the Executive Director of the African Economic Research Consortium; Lead Economist-Macroeconomic Division for Eastern Africa; Research Manager,
Development Economics Department; Manager and Advisor to Vice President-Africa Region at the World Bank. Prof. Ndulu is the founder of the African Economic Research Consortium, one of
the most effective research and training networks in Africa. He has also worked as a Lead Economist with the Macroeconomic Division of the World Bank for Eastern Africa from the Tanzania Country Office, where he was directly involved with economic and financial reforms during the Third Phase Government. This program has contributed to over a decade of sustained economic growth in Tanzania. Prof. Ndulu has carried out many research undertakings and consultancy projects, and has published books and journal articles on a wide variety of subjects mostly on the subject of growth, policy reform, governance and trade. He has received awards, honours and grants, prominent among them is the Honorary Doctorate from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in the Hague in 1997 in recognition of his contributions to capacity building and research on Africa.
