The Economic Society of Tanzania extends a warm invitation to professionals and individuals with a profound interest in economics.

As the all-encompassing society of economists in Tanzania, we actively participate in policy-oriented research, offer short-term training to boost capacity, and host public dialogues and conferences to actively contribute to the economic advancement of Tanzania.

Eligibility

EST offers membership to professional economists from diverse backgrounds, including global institutions, corporations, government agencies, non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, and individuals.

To be eligible for membership, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a graduate degree in economics or a related field.
  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Have been accepted into a Bachelor’s Degree program or its equivalent, with first-year students also being eligible to apply.
  • Show a genuine enthusiasm and strong passion for economics as a discipline and recognize its significance in fostering economic development in Tanzania and beyond.

Membership Categories

Professional Members

This membership category is designed for individuals who have already embarked on their careers in various industries as economists or in related roles, and who wish to join the ranks of the Economic Society of Tanzania (EST).

Student Members

  • This category is for students currently pursuing a degree or any related studies at the tertiary level (Bachelor, Masters, PhD.) and wishes to join the EST.
  • A student member must at least be admitted with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. First-year students are allowed to apply.

Institutional Members

Institutional membership is available to academic departments of tertiary institutions, public institutions, as well as research and policy think tanks.
